Laros Eternalhope

Known as the Poison Master, Traitor, Hero.

Laros eternalhope.jpg

Creator of the ultimate poison. Though he passed the knowledge of how to create extremely powerful poison to the highest order of thieves, he kept the most enlightening of knowledge to himself, the secret of the poison that would instantly kill a foe he carried with him as he retired to unknown lands. The knowledge at the time gave a new fear and respect that Elanthia held for those that walked the shadowed paths.

Instigator of the Crossing thief guild uprising. Why did the Crossing guild rebel? Why were the old entrances collapsed and new ones made? Why was there war between the various thief factions and different guilds? What caused the thief rift to spread to Riverhaven? The uprising, which at times spilled over onto the streets with bloodshed and more, lasted for nearly a year, mostly in the shadows, mostly in fear. Perhaps the story will be told one day, perhaps not.

Some know his story, others wish they did, most only know him as legend, and that 'things' happened, and somehow he was involved.

Notes:

[Riverhaven, Ferry Dock]

A mass of muddied footprints occasionally speckled with animal droppings, gives a glimpse into the heavy traffic of the now quiet landing. The gentle caress of water massages the resting dock, preparing it for a new day. You also see a white horse, a red moonbeam, a sleek cat who is sitting, a ramp, a Baron's Guardsman, and the ferry His Daring Exploit.
Also here: Medic Athanasia, Drifter Janalynn, Wordsmith Sarait, Wayfarer Cropli, Llarkk, Dreamer Illusionz, Mage Soloe, Heritage Keeper Xopher, Warder Canaw, War Priestess Daxlynn, Thug Sanlin, Outlaw Salsto, Provincial Guard Jairol, Taelus, Shadow Laros, Thug Ipkin, Sacristan Pilf, Karmina, Snothwoven, Gulphphunger, Sunhammer, Fyriestorme, Valkyrie Swiser, and Lord Mayor Bressail.
Obvious paths: east.

Laros says to Bressail, "be good now.."

The Traitor/Hero:

Many say that Laros was a traitor, others say he was a hero, one would surmise that it depends upon your point of view, and perhaps whether you were against or with him.

- Before his time, poison as it existed was laughed at by many, and forgotten by most. When he discovered the true secrets that had been forgotten in ages past he deemed it part of his duty to bring fear back to thieves, in doing so, he sold 'black market' poison, using others to spread the word that the shadow walkers were to be feared again.

- Some may argue that it was also because he provided Opulent (a trader working for his father) with Master thief lockpicks, of which at the time was great internal conflict within the thieves guild as to wether the public of Elanthia should be allowed to use these.

- He inspired, and was a focal point for long lasting changes to the thieves guild, nearly overthrowing Kalag in the process. Changes that some were long after whilst others were not.

Notes:

Laros was the last holder of the last remaining gwethsmasher (one of the two originals, not the crafted type that exist today), and the last owner of the One Ring (that transformed into six different weapons), as well as various other artifacts now lost to time, these two were amongst the more noteworthy items.

[Keep Eternalhope, Main Hall]
Columns of aged marble reach unerringly upwards meeting the ceiling in a joining of shadows along either side, stretching from the huge oaken door in the centrel southern wall to the two ebonwood doors at the far corners of the hall. The entire hall is enclosed within time worn stone walls formed of huge chunks of granite ponderously joined together by no visibly means. With no visible windows, the polished obsidian Lord's chair centered at one end of this huge hall seems to draw in the shadows that are cast by the flickering torches bracketed to the columns. A large ironwood table rests at the centre of this aged hall, scattered by half full mugs, and old parchments, whilst tapestrys of battles long fought and Lords long dead adorn the walls, fighting for supremacy with the cobwebs.
Also here: Lord Dalimyr who is sitting on an obsidian Lord's chair that is facing the table, Healer Kydral, Financier Opulent, Priestess Chaime, Dame Sacrifice, Enchanter Xyre and Sir Laros.

>look dalimyr

You see Lord Dalimyr Eternalhope, a Human Paladin. He has silver eyes.
His silver hair is shoulder length and straight, and is worn tousled.
He has tanned skin.
He is in his prime for a Human.
He has a long thin mustache that droops on either side of his upper lip and a finely trimmed goatee.

He is wearing some golden gauntlets each etched with a crest and set with animite flecks in each scale, a feathered charm, an ornate aged scabbard carved with a stylized white rose overlaying a mountain, some animite-etched field plate armor with obsidian pauldrons with a white diamond rose embedded in the chestplate, a polished great helm with gold marbling and animite insets adorned with the crest of a white rose overlaying an obsidian mountain upon its brow, some aged steel boots inlaid with sheeps wool.

Lord Dalimyr gestures.

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "The whole household is here, such has not happened in some time."

Lord Dalimyr frowns.

Chaime curtsies to Lord Dalimyr.

Sacrfice curtsies to Lord Dalimyr.

Xyre bows to Lord Dalimyr.

With a flick of his wrist, Opulent bows towards Lord Dalimyr, his eyes never leaving his, a captivating smile on his face as he regards him with poise and unrivaled dignity.

Kydral bows to Lord Dalimyr.

Laros nods to Lord Dalimyr.

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "Opulent, how fares our household finances?"

Opulent confidently says, "They are well my lord, many thousands of plats have been brought to your coffers throughout the years."

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "This is good, and thee hast travelled here to deliver thy monthly report?"

Opulent confidently says, "Yes my lord, though more. Our trade routes are well established, those hired under the household no longer need my assistance or guidance."

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "Meaning?"

Opulent confidently says, "I come to return to work directly from the household my lord. To better oversee the Household finances."

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "I shalt then have thy old room restored, and offices built on for thy convenience."

Opulent confidently says, "Thank you my lord, though the household's lands may now be small, its riches are vast."

Dalimyr nods to Opulent.

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "Ye have served House Eternalhope well, thy services will be aptly rewarded."

Opulent bows gracefully to Dalimyr.

Opulent steps back to stand aside the large ironwood table.

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "My half-son, dost thou as always walk in thy brothers wake?"

Kydral sheepishly says, "As always I have father, someone has got to look after him."

Dalimyr smiles slightly at Kydral.

Dalimyr turns to face Laros.

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "My son, why dost thou step upon our halls once more?"

Sir Laros says, "Father, I wish to return home."

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "Thy tasks within the many lands of Elanthia are done?" Sir Laros says, "No, alas not, but I wish to return home."

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "And thy friends ye have made in thy travels? ye would willingly leave them yonder in the past?"

Sir Laros says, "They will always be close to me, in my memorys, in my heart."

Dalimyr smiles slightly at Laros.

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "Thy knowledge shalt pass from the lands, thy existance will fade."

Sir Laros says, "As with all things."

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "All that ye hast brought of thyself to the lands beyond our halls shalt be lost, forgotten, thy name passing into memory, then fading into dust."

Sir Laros quietly says, "As with all things father."

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "Ye wouldst now take thy seat within the Household?"

Sir Laros says, "I would, though you have long denied it to me"

Dalimyr squints at Laros.

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "Thou hast always had a place at my side son."

Sir Laros says, "I will no longer stand at your side."

Laros smiles enigmatically.

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "I still stand as the Households Lord my son."

Sir Laros says, "I wish to return home father, and to take my rightful place."

Laros draws forth a timeworn diamond-tipped dusky sword adorned with an obsidian rose shaped hilt.

Dalimyr raises an eye at Laros.

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "And where dost thou see as thy rightful place?"

Sir Laros says, "Within your seat father."

Laros smiles slightly and tilts his head at Dalimyr.

Laros shows his sword to Dalimyr.

The exquisitely carved obsidian rose hilt overlays a faint image of a mountain set in the hilt, a masterpiece accenting this venerable weapon. A black diamond is embedded at the heart of the rose, glinting in the light along with the sword's diamond tip. Etched into the obsidian hilt with flecks of black diamond, an inscription is barely visible: "I am Fate - Laros."

Dalimyr blinks.

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "Thy wouldst do such things in my own hall?"

Dalimyr glances at the two guards leaning against the huge oaken doors.

Sir Laros says, "It is surprising how cheap some may be bribed for."

The guards hang thier heads down, as if totally unaware of what occurs.

Lord Dalimyr eloquently says, "Thy wouldst not leave your tasks unfinished to sit upon the Household!"

Sir Laros says, "Things have changed, there is now but one task left unfinished."

Lord Dalimyr growls, "And what might that be my 'son'?"

Sir Laros says, "Attaining my proper seat within the household."

Dalimyr studies the faces around him.

Lord Dalimyr frantically says, "Why art thou all so silent as to let this cur threaten your lord so?"

Kydral, Opulent, Xyre, Chaime and Sacrifice take a few steps back and hang thier heads so as not to meet Dalimyr's piercing gaze.

Lord Dalimyr quietly says, "So, ye have brought thier loyalty aswell."

Lord Dalimyr defiantly says, "Though I still live and breath, thou shalt not take this seat."

Laros smirks.

Sir Laros slyly says, "A remedy soon fixed."

Dalimyr gets off the obsidian Lord's chair on which he was sitting.

Dalimyr draws forth an ancient bastard sword etched along the blade with a rose entwined within thorny vines and adorned with an aged animite hilt.

Lord Dalimyr confidently says, "Come then son, if ye would try to attain my seat, ye will taste my blade."

Lord Dalimyr moves into a position to parry.

Lord Dalimyr strokes his goatee in thoughtful contemplation.

Lord Dalimyr searches around for a moment.

Driving in like an adept combatant, Laros backstabs a timeworn diamond-tipped dusky sword adorned with an obsidian rose shaped hilt at Lord Dalimyr. Lord Dalimyr attempts to evade, avoiding only some of the blow. The sword lands an extremely heavy hit that pierces through the shoulder of the right arm forcing it and the arm to separate in a painful bloody display, stunning him!

Dalimyr's ancient bastard sword falls to the ground.

Dalimyr grimaces terribly, as if in agony.

  • Dalimyr was just struck down!
  • Dalimyr is slain before your eyes!

A sudden silence seems to enshroud the hall, exaggerated by the sudden sound of Dalimyr's body hitting the cold stone floor with a single thud.

Laros wipes his sword upon Dalimyr's corpse.

Laros slowly walks up to the polished obsidian Lord's chair.

Laros slowly turns his face to the front of the hall, and resting his hands upon either side of the chair slowly sits back.

Chaime kneels down before Laros.

Sacrifice kneels down before Laros.

Xyre kneels down before Laros.

Opulent kneels down before Laros.

Kydral kneels down before Laros.

Lord Laros closes his eyes and quietly says to himself, "I have returned home."

You hear a distant boom from high above in the heavens, a faint ech'oing reaches your ears sounding so alike as to a tome closing for the final time.
